We Are Maarpu
Transforming Neglect into Beauty.
Most discarded materials do not become waste when they are thrown away. They become waste much earlier, the moment we stop seeing value, meaning, or possibility in them.
At Maarpu, we believe waste is not only a material problem. It is a perception problem.
The way we perceive materials shapes the way we use them, value them, and ultimately discard them. When something is overlooked, it is easily ignored. When something is admired, it becomes memorable. And what becomes memorable has the potential to shape behaviour.
This belief sits at the heart of our practice.
Maarpu is a circular design studio practising design for behaviour change through material transformation. We work with discarded materials and transform them into contemporary surfaces, objects, spaces, and experiences that challenge conventional perceptions of waste.
Our purpose is not simply to recycle materials. It is to transform the relationship people have with them.
Through circular design, material experimentation, and collaborative making, we create interventions that make transformation visible and worth admiring. Whether it is a public installation, an architectural surface, a piece of furniture, an artwork, or a commemorative object, each project is an opportunity to demonstrate that discarded materials can continue to participate meaningfully within cultural, architectural, and everyday contexts.
We believe transformation has the power to change perception.
When perception changes, awareness becomes possible.
When awareness becomes possible, behaviour can change.
This is why we transform discarded materials.
Because design makes change visible and worth admiring.
And what is worth admiring is not easily ignored.
Change is beautiful.
